Child Leaving for College

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for this day and all you have done and continue to do for us. Today I bring before you ________ as {he/she/they} prepare for ________ to leave for college. I thank you for {his/her/their} support and love for ________, and for the intentionality and love they have shown and given in promoting learning and education up to this point. Be with all those who are traveling and will be part of the moving process, granting safety and provision every step of the way.I pray that you help calm any nervousness and anxious feelings and allow {him/her/them} to let the words of the apostle Paul to the Philippians sink into {his/her/their} mind and soul:

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬-‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

As goodbyes are said and tears are shed, I pray that you wrap your powerful and loving arms around everyone and give comfort and assurance that all things will work together for good. I pray that you be with ________, and steel {his/her} resolve and grant {him/her} the fortitude to work through any challenges that come {his/her} way as college and classes begin. Give {him/her} an insatiable appetite for you and your word as {he/she} continues to trust and seek you, growing closer and more fully in love with you every day. Help {him/her} to see {himself/herself} the same way ________ and so many others in {his/her} circle of influence see {him/her} – as an intelligent, gifted, dedicated, caring, confident, and capable {man/woman} of God, able to succeed in all {he/she} puts {his/her} mind to.

For all these and other things in our heart and mind, I pray in your powerful and holy name. Amen.
