Heavenly Father,
You are a great and powerful God – our God most high. We are in awe of you and the splendor of your creation. From our earth and our galaxy to the vastness of the stars, planets, and galaxies far beyond, the work of your words is still creating galaxies beyond what we can see and imagine. When we look up at skies you created, help us to join in with the psalmist David in proclaiming:
“O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth.
You have set your glory above the heavens…
When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?”
Psalm 8:1, 3-4
Today, help us take a two-foot field trip to step outside, look up, and count the stars. In so doing, help us praise and glorify you for the beauty of all that you made here on earth and to the ends of the cosmos. Grant that we remove the manmade ceilings that we have put on you and your powerful abilities. Help us to rediscover you as our good and perfect father, one who is bigger than any problem we face or dream that we pursue.
We ask this all in your glorious and powerful name. Amen.
