Father God,
Thank you for this day and for your unconditional love for all of your children. We know that you are all-powerful, faithful, and all-knowing, and are with us in every area of our lives. We pray now that you be with us in the darkest of valleys as we mourn the death of ________. While we may never know what demons, issues, struggles, or circumstances were faced, take us and lead us with your guiding hand as we and so many others go about processing this devastating loss. Be our Jehovah Shalom – the Lord our Peace – and give us your peace that surpasses understanding, as well as giving us healing, comfort, guidance, and reassurance. We know that you are omniscient and have your perfect plan laid out for our lives, but sometimes it is difficult to see how our plan is unfolding, and why certain events happen in the lives of your dearly loved children. We know that death is part of life here on this earth, a result of our sin, even if the death is self-induced, yet it never minimizes or lessens the hurt and despair of navigating the loss. As we continue on now without ________ in our lives, strengthen our faith and help us to lean in even more to you and your mercy and grace. Help us to put our entire trust in you and grow deeper in love with you as we find comfort in your strong arms.
